[Stars spell out your name like in a science fiction drama]

Nothing super exciting happened today, I went to school and listened to a presentation about the future of nursing, watched an old 80's video about patient/client boundaries and then we took our leadership test which I did well on. I ate lunch with V and K, stopped by Ulta to check out the nail polish and came home.

Once I got home my mom let me know that my dad was starting his IVIG treatments tomorrow. We had to straighten the house and vacuum and mop all the floors because the dogs tracked in mud. That was a chore! Mom and I worked together though and got it done. I finally cleaned out the front room and put a bunch of stuff in the garage. My shoulders and ankles hurt now though :(

Dad will be home for 9 days straight due to the treatment, weekends and the Thanksgiving holiday. Dad overload? I hope not. I really hope he tolerates the treatment well.

Tonight we watched some TV and I gave Pepper a bath to get the mud out of his hair. He was not happy about that, poor baby. He got his teeth cleaned last week and they did an awesome job. He's not as growly and his breath smells way better. Maybe those two teeth he had pulled had been hurting him.

Tomorrow I have my second therapy session, I hope it goes well.

[There is thunder in our hearts, baby.]

I had big plans today to clean the front room but that didn't happen cuz I stayed up all night watching OTH with my dad (he couldn't sleep). When I woke up this morning C was online and I ended up playing RuneScape for a couple hours with him. I doubled my magic level and almost died trying to prove that I could kill dragons too. I did kill the dragons, I almost died because I got poisoned by some creature in the dungeon when I was on my way out, lol.

I went to the doctor this afternoon to get some more samples of the new med. It's been like 10 days and I don't really feel any different. The samples should last me a month, hopefully I will know if it works by then. I should be able to tell if its working right? I wonder why it takes so long... I mean I know it has to build up in your system, but why can't they make something that works faster?

I took pics today after it rained of the dogs, the bees on the lemon tree, rain soaked leaves and the sky. I really love the sky, That sounds so random but it's beautiful, night or day. Clouds and stars, rainbows and moonbows. It's amazing. I'd love to one day be able to take photos of the night sky, like really awesome photos.

I saw a shooting star last night, it was pretty cool. I was taking out the trash and happened to look up and see it. I never see one when I want to see one or am looking for one, weird how that works. I looked up shooting stars on space.com and found out that they aren't even stars, its debris and like space grit, meteoroids really. I think shooting star or falling star sounds so much better than meteoroid.

I studied for my leadership exit exam tomorrow and took a practice test which I did well on. It's mostly delegation and prioritization. I have some NCLEX preparation tests to take this week. I don't have to take them (as I was informed yesterday) but I am going to take them anyway because I want to be a part of my class and I want to get all the prep I can. We took a NCLEX predictor test Monday to see how well we might do on the test. I have a 93% chance of passing if I took it now. That's pretty good, if only I had the clinical part down :( Oh well, I have another year to figure that part out.

I painted my nails after my practice test with OPI Teenage Dream, I like it, it's really glittery but kinda thick. I had Orly's Shine On Crazy Diamond on last week. I love the holographic glitters, they're all rainbow-y and happy.

After my nail polish dried I watched 2 episodes of OTH and was going to watch another but decided to use the time to post. I need to get back into the habit of taking the last 30 mins or so before bed to get things out of my head. I can only tell C so much in my good night emails, lol. I know he doesn't care about nail polish :D

random jumble

I spent today with my brother and 14 year old niece (I*) at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH). It was for a follow up appointment cuz I* is having some girly issues and my brother felt weird going without a female (his wife had to work). Four hours and a nutritionist later we get to go home. She's underweight for her height and needs to eat more. Wish I had that problem! Spending the day with her was interesting, most of the time was enjoyable, but there were a few times when I wanted to smack her, lol. I don't know how my brother stays sane with a teenager and a 6 year old around. Further proof that I am not ready for kids, LMAO!

I watched Game of Thrones this season and really enjoyed it. I have the audio books but they are like 40 hours long and the guy kinda bores me. I would rather read than listen right now since I'm not doing anything else, lol. I recently found out that my iPod touch has a Kindle app and was way too excited about it. Unfortunately, my library doesn't support Kindle and the ebooks I want to read (GoT and some others) have like 98 people waiting... WTF?

Father's day was awesome, Mandy and I collaborated on a menu and I made a copy cat version of Carrabba's Chicken Bryan Trottole pasta and grilled asparagus. It was just like the restaurant but better cuz I did it myself! Mandy grilled and I did the inside cooking and baked a sugar free pineapple upside down cake and a peach upside down cake. Yum!

C and I are still doing well, we are playing a game online together and using FaceTime daily. I absolutely love FaceTime. It's way better than Skype, Oovoo or Yahoo video messaging. As much as I bitched about Apple in the past, I love my iPod touch, it is my entertainment HQ- music, internet, movies, TV, photo album, camera and now books! I am so getting an iPhone when I can afford one. /apple testimonial.

I am going to Hong Kong in December. I am excited but scared. C says there is a lot of walking and everything is small, which makes sense since Asian people are smaller. I am thinking it will be like Tokyo though and I didn't have any problems there, of course that was 10 years ago and I was more physically fit and about 75# lighter.

I need to continue walking. I took a walk yesterday as part of my daily challenge and walked today when we went to TCH, I just need to keep it up. I have been in the pool about 4 times a week walking/floating/swimming. I want to start doing water aerobics I just need to find or make up a routine.

I've rediscovered my love for Noxzema! I used to use it as a kid/teen and for some reason stopped using it. I bought some recently for a sunburn and started using it on my face too. I'd forgotten that tingly, cool feeling and the smell. :) Now, if only I could find the Freeman Wild Cherry conditioner I used to buy in high school I'd be even happier! It smelled divine!

That's about all for now :)

May The Fourth Be With You

Happy Star Wars Day!!

Update much? LOL.

We had our ATI proctored test today, kind of an exit exam but not for a grade. It had a lot of questions about pedi head injuries and pedi med-surg that we did not go over in class. Boo. I'm sure there will be questions like that on the NCLEX though so I downloaded the app for my iPod so I can practice.

My final isn't til 5/17 so I'm out of school for about 2 weeks. I'm going to try to study a little bit every day instead of waiting till the weekend before the test and cramming.

After school, I came home and set up my Wii. It was birthday present from my awesome boyfriend. I got tired of waiting on Dad to help me and did it myself; I didn't have any problems except that it's in black and white... something to do with the HDTV. Nintendo suggests buying a special cord (of course) but another source said to switch ports so I'm going to try that first. I messed around with it making a Mii and tried out some of the games. I had so much fun bowling and playing baseball! I tried playing Super Mario Brothers but failed miserably, lol. I never was good at it.

After dinner, I got Dad and Mandy to play the Wii with me. We all bowled then Mandy and I played baseball. I'm not great at bowling, both Dad and Mandy beat me. I kicked butt at baseball though! Woohoo! I was the home run queen!! It was a lot more physical than I thought it would be. I like that we were having fun and moving around. We all need to be more active. After we got tired of playing baseball, Mandy and I (with a little help from mom and dad) made our mii family. We had an awesome time and I think we did a really good job!

I eventually need to get 2 more wiimotes and 1-3 more nunchucks for boxing so we can all play at the same time.

[Every sky was your own kind of blue]

Today was freaking busy! I studied and had lunch with the girls. I sweat my butt off on the way home, showered and chilled for an hour or so and then dad and I went grocery shopping. 2 hours and damn near $300 later, we got home, tired and sore. Grocery shopping for 2 weeks is hard work!

I need to study tonight but I am not motivated.

Tomorrow I am taking my car to get checked out and going with mom to get some stuff at Sam's. Then I have to find a daycare to observe, I have to turn in the form Tuesday and have procrastinated all month. I hope I don't have any problems... I need to write up my child interviews and the daycare observation this week cuz I have to start on a major project next week and have an Adoption seminar for school Friday. I need to go through a bunch of clothes to either trash, donate or keep sometime this week too.

I've also been planning my birthday, I think we're going to go to sing karaoke at this place in Houston if they have room. I emailed the place about reservations and am waiting to hear back. I am a little nervous about this but I gotta face my fear sometime!

[Say goodbye to my heart tonight]

I need to be asleep right now but I just can't quite make it to bed. There are so many other things I could be doing (like not studying).

Yesterday, my car a/c stopped working. I just had the compressor changed out for a different problem a month or two ago, I'm hoping that there is a warranty or something that will cover this. I'm assuming that they put in new freon... I don't know what else it could be. I was not a happy camper yesterday after I spent time putting on makeup and doing my hair only to have it ruined by sweat and wind.

Last night was my classmate N's birthday, we went out to a pub with a handful of other friends from school and had an awesome time. I got home late and slept in til 11.

Today, I studied for a bit then helped dad shave Kody and Pepper. Mandy came over and her and mom made pecan pancakes with strawberries, yum! I meant to study this evening but I was tired. I ended up watching Vampire Diaries, Castle and Bones with the fam. I'm SO happy my shows are back on!

I finally got to talk to C this morning, yay! He had a busy day yesterday and is still looking for a flat so he hasn't been around much :( I hope he gets settled soon. It's only been like 10 days since he left but it feels like it's been so much longer! I think the longest we have spent apart is 2 weeks; when he was at chess camp last summer. It sucked then and it sucks now. I'm trying not to be all emo about it but sometimes I can't help it. I am glad that I have awesome friends (and fam) who are there for me. <3

Here I go again...

I finished up my last clinical at the children's hospital yesterday. I was in the clinic this time and gave vaccinations and watched the nurse do hearing and vision screenings. Most of the kids were in for Well Child Checks. I was running around a lot but it was fun and I learned a lot.

My sister had her surgery yesterday. They removed her stent and tried extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), she's sore but glad to have the stent out.

I went to the doctor Tuesday and, as I suspected, I gained all the weight I had lost last year back (and more!). I'm not happy about that. The doc suspects diabetes and wants me to check my blood sugar twice a week. She also put me back on metformin but only 500 mg (I was on 1500 mg last year). I want her to increase it, but I guess I'll wait til I see her again before I start questioning her.

I joined this daily challenge thingy through facebook and am really liking it. I am also finding out how out of shape I am. I used to be really flexible, now I'm not. I want to build that back up. I searched online for exercises but I can't do half of them so I got the bright idea to search for plus size exercises and had much better luck! I found a lot of sites that recommend walking and yoga and not just regular yoga-fat girl yoga!

Yoga for Round Bodies
Heavy Weight Yoga
Mega Yoga
Plus-sized Pilates and more!

I'm gonna see if the library has any of these and if not I'll probably see if we can order one from amazon. I am also going to start walking again. I need to quit making excuses and just do it.

I really miss C. Having an "online" relationship sucks after having a real life one for a year. I feel like I don't have a boyfriend sometimes, it's like we've lost that connection. We don't get to talk to each other like we used to and even though we have voice chat, its not the same. I haven't spoken to him in over 24 hours so I'm a little frustrated. Hopefully, we'll be able to talk soon.

365 fail

C left Monday, I'm sad but ok. I occasionally burst into tears when people talk about it or I see something that reminds me of him. I guess that's normal? We're talking through email and instant messenger now until he gets an apartment or "flat" as they call it over there and can get a phone or internet. We are trying Skype or Oovoo tomorrow. Oovoo has 3 way video chat that will be fun for talking to his niece. I'm excited!

I went to a private Episcopal school for my school nurse clinical today. It was pretty cool. As much as I don't like organized religion, I do kinda like the religious schools. The kids seems happier and more well behaved-respectful even. The programs seem better, the teachers more involved... IDK, I'm sure that not all schools are like the few that I have visited but I like what I have seen.

Anywho, I've just been busy with school and clinical and family and C leaving.

I found out that my finger wasn't infected, I actually had an allergic reaction to neosporin (probably the neomycin) that caused it to blister and swell. The doc gave me a corticosteroid and told me to use aquaphor instead of (neosporin).

Happy St. Patty's day!

Mom cooked corned beef, potatoes and cabbage for dinner tonight to celebrate our tiny bit of Irish heritage. It was yummy!

I went over to C's tonight. I wanted a green drink to celebrate St. Patrick's Day I ended up with a green Sprite, lol.  We watched Psycho 9 and I went home to sleep.

[Take a bite of my heart tonight]

Once again I'm up when I should have been asleep hours ago. I have to be up fairly early to go walking with my friend, well, she's a girl I met once or twice through C's friend, so a friend of a friend? LOL. Anyway she and I hit it off but haven't ever gotten together just the two of us, I saw her last at C's party but didn't get to spend any time with her. Hopefully we will catch up and have a good time. She is doing WW and has great things to say about it, maybe we could be walking buddies?

I got the oil changed in my dad's truck today. That was fun- before I even got out of the truck the tech was already telling me I needed an engine flush. Freaking high pressure upsales annoy me. Like I'm gonna be like "OMG really? Do it!" This time I got smart(er) and told him to write it all down with prices and I'd give it to my dad.  I also found out that dad and I both like Taylor Swift, he had her newest album in the CD player. Weird? IDK.

After the oil change I went to the library. IDK what possessed me to do that, not like I have time to read anything. I got the last book in Darren Shan's The Demonata Series-Hell's Heroes. I have waited like a year and a half for that darn book! I also got a vampy book called Blood Song and two other books that I probably won't have time to read.

I cleaned my bathroom and washed my shower curtain. I am going to clean out the bathroom closet later today I think.

Chris came over tonight and we watched Life As We Know It and The Fighter, they were both great! I really liked Amy Adams in The Fighter and think I just figured out that Katherine Heigl can't act or maybe she's just stuck playing the same role over and over? Whatev, it's boring. The same goes for Bradley Cooper.

I had to LOL at C tonight. The boy has no idea how to re-heat food in the microwave. He always puts stuff in waaaay longer than it needs and either makes it dry and hard or rubbery. He put a hamburger in for 5 minutes, it came out looking like a hockey puck. He did the same thing with pizza a while ago, it came out half the size it was when it went in! I tried to explain the re-heating guide on the door but he knows what he's doing (excuuuuuse me). At least he eats it, right? I would throw it away.

[These days, I haven't been sleeping]

I'm still up, I really need to get a shower and go to bed.

After getting my car inspected, I came home and started on dinner. I tried making beer can chicken in the oven. It didn't turn out as well as it does on the grill, but was good enough. I baked sweet potatoes and made a salad to go with it. After dinner, I cleaned up the kitchen, did the dishes and started on my "spring break chore list". I moved all of the furniture from the kitchen so I could vacuum and mop. Then I moved all the living room stuff into the kitchen so I could vacuum and mop in there also.

I washed all the dog beds, blankets and rugs-our dogs are spoiled, the little ones each have a bed and a blanket and the big one claims the couch. He gets upset when I sit on "his" couch. There are little rugs all over the floor for them to lie on also. Even the cat has a bed, and 2 window perches.

I also cleaned my parent's bathroom since my mom has been sick and can't do much.

My right shoulder and elbow hurt from all the exercise they got today. I know my back is going to hurt later too. At least I got some exercise in!

I have to get my dad's oil changed, clean my bathroom and maybe my room later today. I, no we, as a family, need to de-clutter this house!  I have so much crap in my room I don't even know what to do with it. I need to go through my closet and pull out all the clothes I can't wear anymore and box them up so I have room for the clothes that do fit me. I need to box up my school stuff from the previous 2 semesters and put them somewhere. I need to wash my linens and flip my mattress and omg so many other things!

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

[Here we are in the bathwater overflow]

I spent most of today sleeping since I was up late last night watching The Dead Girl.

I had my car inspected today and got some other things checked out. While I was waiting, the tech came in carrying something and trying not to laugh. He called me over to show me what he had and it was my cabin filter. It was clogged up with leaves and all kinds of junk. The tech said he wished they had a "wall of shame" to post it on. Oopsie, I didn't even know I had a cabin filter!

[no sound of fury, no shot of pain]

I could not sleep last night, I slept for about an hour and was up. I took a Tylenol PM, hoping it would help but all it did was make me thirsty. I played WWF and tossed and turned and finally got up. My dad was up and started telling me about his very detailed dream. Mom got up about an hour later and I went back to bed. I tossed and turned for an hour or so longer and finally fell asleep around 5. I woke up at 7 and 9 to get a drink and mom woke me up at 11 reminding me that I was supposed to take Pep to the vet this morning. I got up and ate a bowl of cereal. As I walked back to the kitchen to put my bowl in the sink, I noticed it was pouring outside. I told mom I couldn't take Pep to the vet until it stopped raining and started watching TV with her. I kept nodding off so she told me to go back to bed, lol. So Pep and I went back to bed for an hour or so and when I got up the rain had stopped. I got dressed and took Pep to the vet.

He has an ear infection and a sinus infection. He got meds and some cream to put on his nose to help keep it from getting crusty and gross. After the vet I went to get my car aligned and headed home. The other dogs were happy to see Pep except Ginger, she always has to "yell" at him for leaving.

Mom was asleep and dad was checking out my car-the work the mechanic did and installing new wiper blades, so I cooked dinner. Nothing fancy; smoked sausage and baked beans with blueberries and whipped cream for dessert.

Tomorrow, I am going to get my oil changed, radiator flushed and an inspection. Wednesday I am taking dad's truck to get an oil change. I have to start on my list of chores soon and get started studying for my test on the 22nd. It seems like it's so far away but it's gonna creep up on me real quick!

I might go to the doctor tomorrow, my finger is still red and angry and I have some dry itchy/sting-y patches under and around the corners of my eyes. I thought it was irritation from my eyes constantly watering (damn allergies) but today the whole area under my eyes was swollen, puffy and hurt like I had a sunburn. IDK if I am allergic to something new or if I my regular allergies are getting worse or what but it's not normal or comfortable :(

ETA-I had a thought after I posted this that my facial swelling might be from MSG (from the crappy chinese place) so I looked it up (here) and that could totally be the reason AND could have been the reason why I couldn't sleep and why I was so thirsyt! Frakking MSG!

[Don't need another perfect lie]

I was so tired last night that I crashed almost as soon as I hit the bed. I woke up with my iPod on my chest, apparently I was trying to play WwF in my sleep, LMAO!

We didn't do much today, played some literati and ate at a really crappy chinese place. I didn't realize that yahoo games friggin resets your ratings if you don't play in 3 months. Boo!!

I got home around 8 and talked to the 'rents. They have a bunch of stuff they want me to to do over spring break. BLAH.

I have to take Pepper to the vet tomorrow, he's got a runny nose and ear infection. Poor baby :(

Saturday, March 12, 2011

[Tell me what you want to hear]

Slept in today and played WwF until C woke up. We wanted to go to a community baseball game but they were all over by the time we got out of the house. We debated what to do next and ended up eating Chinese and going to the tournament again followed by a movie.

The tournament had 3x as many people today as it did yesterday and was more serious. I spent most of my time in the skittles room again. We stayed about 3 hours this time, not fun for me... it's like watching people study for hours. I spent the last hour in the car talking to my sister on the phone.

We saw The Dilemma at the dollar theater. It was actually $2, but compared to other dollar theaters, this one was worth the extra dollar for cleanliness. The last dollar theater I went to smelled like pee and everything was sticky. *gag*

[Till all my sleeves are stained red]

Pretty much lazed around all day. I watched several (4) episodes of SNL and 2 SDoaCG while C slept the day away.

We went to the KC hall and got a catfish plate with his mom. It was yummy! After dinner, we went to a chess tournament that some of his friends were competing in. We stayed there for about an hour, it was pretty boring. I spent most of my time in the Skittles room playing Angry Birds and people watching. Afterwards, we went to get his niece and saw Beastly. It was cheesy and kinda crappy. Not what I expected, more like a made for TV movie.

Skittles! & Pettyfer were the words of the day, lol!

[I need another story]

I got to class prepared to fail my math test because I was so confused about rounding and which place to round to and why some kg cancelled and others didn't... Mrs. D came in and asked us what the problem was, that this is the same thing that we learned last semester, why are we freaking out and went over the rules. Once she clarified I felt 95% better about it and was able to make the grade. THANK THE LORD!

After the test, we had to listen to lecture forever and a day. She let us out 30 minutes early (woohoo) and I came home, ate and went to bed for an hour.

I'm packing up some stuff and heading over to C's for the long weekend now. I think we're going to see Beastly or Red Riding Hood tomorrow. Yay!

I need to start writing horror movies...

Today was another frustratingly boring day. We spent 2 hours going over the frakking syllabus, we got yelled at about the math and then had a mind numbingly long lecture about infant mortality. The info was actually interesting but was not presented in an interesting way.

Things got better once I got home, mom had made spaghetti and meatballs for lunch. Yum! I watched Being Human and took a 2 hour nap. I procrastinated on studying all evening but am trying to do it now. Maybe I'll wake up early and study some more.

I saw this hilarious trailer on YT about a killer tire called Rubber... watch it!

Not much else to say, hope you all have a great night!

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

[Don't care if critics ever jump in line]

We had a long and rambling lecture over infant nutrition and immunizations this morning. The prof. kept getting off track because people kept asking irrelevant questions. Grr!

I had a ham and cheese panini for lunch and dinner cuz I was too lazy to cook what I really wanted (spaghetti or thai curry). I took a nap and watched TV. Glee, Raising Hope and Traffic were all good!! I caught up on the rest of the Kardashians also. I have a few horror movies DVR-ed to watch with my dad over spring break =)

I'm a little upset that I haven't seen C since Saturday morning and he made this huge deal about spending all this time with me since he is leaving at the end of the month. WTF dude. My mom thinks he's trying to push me away because it will make it easier to leave or something... IDK but it's annoying. Thank God for TV and Nutella.

I'm gonna have to change the way I deal with things when he leaves cuz eating and TV are going to make my ass get HUGE and I'm fat enough as it is. Maybe I can start exercising or something... I need an exercise buddy. Or some willpower. OR maybe just a pretty place to walk, when I walked all over Hermann Park it wasn't so bad cuz I was distracted by the ducks, trees and such.

[It's like were chasing all those stars]

I made a B on my final and a B in the class, yay!!

We had 2 hours to kill after the test so Ve and I went to the mall and window shopped. St showed up and bought us Dippin' Dots. I have only had DD once, in San Antonio at the wax museum and they were stale. These were yummy! I loved taking a bite and exhaling so my breath looked like smoke, lol. I'm easily entertained.

After the mall we went back to class to work on dosage calculations for children. We were split into groups and half my group was speeding ahead like it's nothing and the other half was getting frustrated. I need to practice tomorrow to get it down.

I watched SPN and Being Human when I got home and then dad and I went to get mom some food-she wanted pork chops- for her birthday. We also picked up a tres leches cake. I'd never had tres leches before, it was OK. It might have been better if it hadn't been frozen in the middle!! LMAO! Mom ate it anyway and loved it. She laughed when dad and I sang her "Happy Birthday", she said she wished she could record us, I'm glad she didn't cuz we sound horrible.

After dinner we watched Shameless and the 'rents went to bed. I stayed up and watched a few episodes of Kourtney and Kim take NY.

I'm doing tactical puzzles on chesstempo now and losing. I'm probably going to watch New Moon... or maybe Eclipse and go to bed.

Peace!

[Who's driving shiny big black cars]

Studied most of the day. Came home and the power went out so we ordered pizza and I studied at BK cuz they have free wifi. It would have been great had the music not been so loud. Might be my new study place if I can get some earplugs. :)

OB final is tomorrow I am nervous yet not... I don't know if this is confidence in my abilities or if I just don't care anymore. Maybe I'm just tired.

"Just so you know, I don't pick up hitchhikers"

C and I saw "Over the River and Through the Woods" last night. It was pretty darn good, we laughed and cried. We could relate to it since it was about a guy who is conflicted about moving from NYC to Seattle and how he and his family deal with it. We are kinda in the same situation...

So, today I studied with V for a while and studied a little at home. This evening, dad and I had kind of a date night; we went to see Drive Angry 3-D and Denny's after. We liked Drive Angry a lot!

Sleepy now, later!

Friday, March 4, 2011

The birds. They are angry.

I was up early today running errands with my mom. We spent about 2 hours at the DMV getting her new license. IDK why it takes so long, they should have a separate line for people who just need to renew or a new picture ID and one for the people who have to drag in arm loads of paper work and certificates. Also, why don't people prepare a little more? Maybe I'm lazy but I don't wanna drive all the way there and not have the correct form of payment or the wrong paperwork. I check online or call to find out exactly what I need to have and what I need to do. Some of the same whiners who were complaining about the lines didn't even have their shit together! Grr! I was so glad I brought my iPod, I played Angry Birds and watched an episode of BSG.

We ate lunch then I got a car wash (darn birds) and worked out all my muscles trying to vacuum my car out. I found $2 under my seats but sucked up .50c of it with the vacuum :(

We went from one end of the county to the other and on into Houston to go to my mom's bank, get prescriptions and fuel... a lot of driving!

I had a paper cut on my finger and I put neosporin and a band aid on it. Its all blistery, red and itchy now, I wonder if I am allergic to neosporin or if this is some weird rash/infection. If it gets worse I'm going to have to get it checked out.

My dad wants me to start looking for a summer job so I can pay him back for the tires and stuff. Blah. I'd like get a job as a student nurse at a hospital but I don't know if any hospitals around here do that. I need to do some research.

I'm going to study for my final now, if I can keep my eyes open. Tonight, I'm going to C's and we're going to see the play "Over the River and Through the Woods".

bye bye babies

We had our last OB rotation today. I was sad to see it end but excited for the future and that we are that much closer to the end. We left a little early and took our instructor out to lunch. We had a nice time chatting about our experiences in the hospital and working with a new group.

I took a nap when I got home, breakfast for dinner and watched some TV.

Now I need to finish up some homework and start reviewing for the final.

Simulation!

We had our lab simulation today, I was "family member" and my manikin "sister" was experiencing postpartum hemorrhage. My team members did a really great job, I was impressed.

After simulation, I headed home, ate lunch and watched The Sorcerer's Apprentice,  I really liked it!

After the movie, I took a 3 hour nap and haven't been able to sleep tonight :( I guess I'll stay up face-booking and playing Angry Birds.

Rodeo!

I took my proctored test today. It's a NCLEX simulation type test. I made a level 2 which means I should meet or exceed the requirements and most likely pass the NCLEX. That's good news!

I went to the rodeo tonight with Ve, St and some classmates. We had a really good time. We saw Clay Walker-I didn't even know who he was but I did recognize 2 songs. One song was from in a movie or TV show and the other was V's ringtone forever.

I took like 400 pics and they all look the same, LMAO!!

I met up with C afterwards and we hung out for an hour or so before heading home.

"Nobody follow us or I kill myself and then her! "

Didn't do much today- a little homework and watched Knight and Day with the folks. It was crazy but good.

I have a busy week ahead of me.

Cheers!

Zoo!

We went to the zoo today, it was an experience, lol. We got there late and only saw a small portion. I want to go back soon and way earlier, so I can see all the fun stuff. And maybe on a weekday cuz today was insane-traffic, parking, crowds. Ugh. I thought with the rodeo in town, it might not be that bad but I was wrong!

Zoo pics are on facebook. Next time I go I wanna spend a lot more time and get some really good pics, these were too rushed.

Came home, made dinner and watched CSI MI.

Amazing!

Today was another amazing clinical day. I was it the nursery and got to see 3 deliveries. Two were "natural" and 1 was C section. One of the babies peed on his mom as soon as they placed him on her abdomen, it was so funny! She was laughing through the pain.

I helped with the newborn assessments, vital signs and meds. I tested baby blood sugars, gave the eye meds and a hepatitis vaccine. I also bathed, fed, changed and held newborns and got to feed a lil 3# preemie. She was adorable! They all were!

I got to inspect a placenta, watch a circumcision and a see a tubal ligation! AWESOME!!

We talked to some of the nurses and got some advice and some more insight into what a L&D/Nursery/NICU/Postpartum nurse does and the stress and responsibilities you have. We also talked about cross training and making sure you get that year or two of Med Surg in to help you be a better nurse and prepare you for almost anything.

To top it all off, I got a 96 on my nursing process paper!

Got home, slept, ate and watched The Vampire Diaries. I'm pissed that I can't watch another new epi til  APRIL! I can appreciate that they are trying to lure in new watchers but seriously, leave my show alone CW!!

Can't wait for the Hillywood Parody of TVD to come out!!

Happy New Year!!

The party was cool, I went with C, his mom, step-dad and niece B. We had a nice time eating yummy food, socializing and dancing. I only danced to the songs I had heard before and surprisingly, I have heard quite a few, lol.

I got a few pics, I'll have to upload them later.

Now we're home watching a zombie movie with Billy Zane-The Mad. A guy was just attacked by a hamburger patty!

I'm sleeepy! TTYL
